Revelation 9 Fulfillment In The Rise of Islam and the fall of the Eastern Apostate Holy Roman Empire

Revelation chapter 9 records two separate time frames surrounding the fall of the Eastern Roman Empire being attacked by the forces of Islam.

This was a major historical event surrounding the saints, in that they were spread throughout the Eastern “Orthodox” Holy Roman Empire, which had become apostate.

The first timeline was in the 5th Trumpet. A day equals a year in prophecy, so the 5 month time frame given comes to 5 x 30 days a month = 150 days = 150 years.

At the death of Muhammad in AD 632, the Islamic armies set out to conquer other lands. During that 150 year time, they conquered Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Egypt and North Africa. They also moved in conquering Armenia, Crete, Cypress, Kazakhstan and Sardinia.

Finally the 150 years of waring was over, and in AD 782, at the Treaty of Constantinople, a peace agreement between Islam and the Eastern Roman Empire was signed.

V3 - And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth; and unto them was given power as the scorpions of the earth have power.

Rev 9:7,8 describes the Arabs as locusts. Judges 6:5, 7:12 and Nahum 3:15 also describes people as locusts as well.

In the Romance of Antar, locusts represent the national emblem of the Ishmaelites. “I shall command these armies , numerous as the locusts, to assault you and to grind you like grain…” (1)

Mohammedan tradition tells of locusts having dropped into the hands of Mohammad, bearing on their wings, the inscription, “We are the army of the Great God.” (2)

V4 - And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the green grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree, but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

This was a matter of policy. Unlike the Goth scorched earth policy, the Arabs kept everything green and intact, forming flourishing states around them. The seal of God would be according to Ephesians 1:13 , sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

V5 – And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented 5 months; and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man.

This was metaphor that the Eastern Empire attacked would not be taken and die, but would survive.

Rev 9:10 repeats this and describes them as having tails like scorpions. They were master archers and would ride backwards on their horses killing men in battle shooting arrows, like stings in their tails.

V6 – And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die and death shall flee from them.

This is metaphor for lacking the faith and boldness to be martyred, choosing rather to live than die for the faith. Such was the lukewarmness of those apostate Christians of the Eastern Orthodox Empire in that era. They chose to compromise and become heavily taxed by the Islamists in their treaty of peace, and become second class citizens, rather than die in fighting them. Death shall flee from the Empire. It would survive and not die... yet.

V7 – And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared into battle; and on their heads, were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men.

This is describing the horses of that era, like the locusts, which was the main mode of transportation in those days, especially at war. They are also described as having crowns like gold. The Arab soldiers back then wore yellow turbines.

In the Arabian tale Antar, God intended for the Arabs “that their turbans should be unto them instead, of diadems.” (3)

V8 – And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions.

In Natural History, Pliny the Elder, spoke of “the turbaned Arabs with their uncut hair.” When in battle, the Arab soldiers would tuck their long hair up in yellow turbans during war time. The soldiers were ferocious as lions, in teeth of lions.

Sorry not sorry Futurists. No soldiers today have hair like women. This era of Islam however, did. Sorry not sorry Preterists. The Roman soldiers of the entire first century had short hair, not long hair.

V9 – And they had breastplates, as it were the breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle

Breastplates of iron is metaphor for the soldiers wearing chainmail armor, another evidence of this being that era of Medieval Times.

Sorry not sorry Futurists. No soldiers today wear chainmail. Sorry not sorry Preterists. Chainmail wasn’t wore till around 280 AD.

Medieval Roman Empire

The 2nd timeline was in the 6th trumpet, in the “hour, day, month and year” time frame given. Using the day for year principle, an hour is close to 2 weeks, a day is 1 year, a month is 30 days or 30 years, and a year is 360 days or 360 years. 360+30+1= 391 years total… and 2 weeks.

From 1062 when crossing the Euphrates in their second wave of attacks beginning, to 1453 when the Arabs conquered Constantinople is 391 years. This ended the Eastern Holy Roman Empire.

V13 – And the sixth angel sounded, and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden alter which was before God V14 – saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates.

The Euphrates is the land of the Arabs. At hebrewgospels.com, the ancient full book of Revelation in Hebrew found in India decades ago interprets the word “angel” as “messenger.” “Saying to the sixth messenger which had the trumpet, loosen the four messengers…” This gives a clearer message of what the scripture is saying, that it’s a message, not really an “angel.” The “four messengers which were bound in the great river Euphrates” were the 4 sons of Malik Shah.

The People’s New Testament by Barton Johnson, 1891, says, “If the reader will open at the 532^nd page of Gibbon Vol V, he will find that the mighty empire of Malek Shah was divided into four principalities, under his four sons, which are described by the historian under the names of Persia, Kerman, or Idia, Syria, Roum or Asia Minor, extending from the shores of the Indian Ocean to the Mediterranean. They are the four angels or messengers of destruction.”

V15 And the four messengers were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, a day, a month and a year, for to slay a third of men.

We covered the hour, day, month and year above. What stumps some saints is they think a third of the entire population on earth will be slain. They are wrongly thinking global and not jurisdictional, and not what the scripture here refers to, the Eastern Greek Orthodox Empire, a third of the empire dying, as shown in the map above, how the empire was sectional, with their own leadership and cultural uniqueness.

V16 – And the number of the army of horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand and I heard the number of them.

Rev 9:16 tells of an army two hundred thousand thousand. This number is not 200 million as some suppose, pointing to a Chinese army. The Chinese only keep a 2 million man army presently. Arabs numbered their armies by the 10,000s. The Strong’s Greek word here is #3461 murias, which means 10,000. This would make an army of 200,000, a more realistic number than the 200 million we believe is mistaken here.

Roman historian Edward Gibbon says this number was 200,000… “Islam replied ‘Dispatch my bow and as it is circulated around, the summons will be obeyed by two hundred thousand horse.” (4)

This should have been translated “two myriads of myriads” grouping into the tens of thousands.

V17 – And thus I saw horses in the vision and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire (red) , and of jacinth (blue) and brimstone (yellow) and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions and out of their mouth issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

This verse describes even down to the colors of the Islamic uniforms worn then, red, blue & yellow.

From their first appearance the Ottomans have affected to wear warlike apparel of scarlet, blue and yellow. Horae Apocalypticae 1847

V17 also describes in the early stages of when muskets were first used. Out of their mouth issued fire and smoke and brimstone, would portray someone seeing a horseman with the use of a musket for the first time.

V18 By these three were a third part of men killed, by fire, and by smoke and by brimstone which issued out of their mouth

As discussed earlier, men from a third of the empire were killed, the Eastern Orthodox third of the empire. This is in contrast to the 5^th trumpet, first wave of war against the Eastern Empire, wherein men would seek death, but find it not, but this time they were killed, meaning the Eastern Empire came to its end, as recorded in history.

V19 For their power is in their tails; for their tails were like unto serpents and had heads and with them they do hurt.

This seems to metaphorically describe the use of cannons, which at that time were a fairly new invention. This is how the Arabs penetrated the great walls of Constantinople. Cannons back then were longer than we are used to seeing. They would appear as a snake. Fire and smoke and brimstone would issue from the mouth of a cannon. Seeing a fuse lit on a cannon and the sound of it hissing would appear like the sound and tail of a serpent.

V20 goes on to describe the fallen state of the apostate Eastern Orthodox Empire, that they would not repent of their vast sins, so God allowed this judgment to come upon them.

V20 But the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver and brass and stone, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. V21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornications, nor of their thefts.

Every indicator described in this chapter of Revelation points to those Medieval Times of the rise of Islam against the Easter Orthodox Roman Empire. The more educated knowledgeable historians of the 18th and 19th centuries are completely in agreement to this view of Revelation ch 9. The modern day cheap education of today’s seminaries churning out the Futurists view is far from accurate and they have a vested interest in censoring this information, which shows Revelation has a timeline down through history in line with all that took place surrounding the history of the persecuted church.
